Snyder sets fast time @ Berlin! night ends early

06/28/2008

The Vertech Motorsports team traveled to one of their favorite tracks Saturday hoping to finally change their luck.
The night started off well with Snyder laying down some pretty impressive lap times in hot laps. Derek backed up his hot lap times
with a blistering qualifying lap of 13.028 which was less than a tenth from the track record, and had an average speed of 121 MPH.
This was good making fast time for the night, and was 4 tenths faster than the second place qualifier. Snyder started his heat race on the outside of the third row, and raced his way up
to 4th, Derek was all over the 3rd place car but ran out of laps. After the checkered flag was thrown the engine broke, taking Snyder
out for the night, and possibly the next few races. This was the teams only engine so the team will be looking for other ways to get on
the track.

Another night cut short at Auto City

06/14/2008

Vertech Motorsports traveled to Auto City Speedway in Clio Saturday in hopes of a successful evening. The team started off the night with a Qualifying time of 13.59, which was good for 9th place. The track was hot and slick so Snyder was having a hard time getting the car hooked up all night. In the heat race Snyder started on the outside of the front row and was able to hang on for a strong 3rd place finish even though the car was not handling well. Snyder started in Ninth in the feature and had a strong start, getting by Kevin Feeney on the first lap. Derek was quickly gaining on 8th place when the engine went sour due to an ignition problem. Another night was cut short, but the team expects to turn their luck around at M-40 Speedway or Berlin Raceway next weekend.

06/13/2008

The Vertech Motorsports team traveled their way to Toledo Speedway in Ohio with great intentions. Derek looked good in practice but with storms moving in, our excitement fell short for the day. Next we look forward to Auto City Speedway, hopefully to have the chance to run the whole race and come out with a strong finish.

Stuck Throttle Cuts Snyders Night Short

06/06/2008

Vertech Motorsports traveled to Deleware Speedway for their second race of the season Friday in hopes of a win at an unfamiliar track. The night started off good with a good qualifying time of 16.34 which was was good for 4th place. Because of his qualifying time Snyder had to start towards the back of the heat race and was able to hold on for a 5th place finish. Snyder started on the inside of the 4th row for the feature. The green flag was dropped and Snyder had a good start and a within the first lap a yellow was thrown and Snyder's throttle started to stick, he shut off the car and came in for the night. The Vertech Motorsports crew is anxious for the next two races at Toledo and Auto City where they hope to overcome their problems.

Top 10 Finish in Season Opener

05/10/2008

Vertech Motorsports traveled to Clio, Michigan, to compete at Auto City Speedway Satuday with Derek Snyder behind the wheel.
Many changes were made over the winter, and it was Snyder's first time racing at Auto City, so running ok and just finishing the race was the teams main goal.
Practice went well, even though some beginning of the season bugs had to get worked out. With fresh rubber on the car, Snyder was able to lay down a 13.61 which was good enough for 9th place, but since he is a Rookie of the Year contender, he had to start in the back of all events despite his qualifying times. Finally, after a long winter it was time for the first heat race of the night.
Starting in 7th in the heat, Snyder made it look easy charging to third place where he would finish. Some adjustments still needed to be made but the team was off to a good start. The Sprint Cars lined up for the first feature on a beautiful night, Snyder had to start towards the back with the other 3 Rookie of the Year contenders. The start was hairy but everyone got through turns one and two ok. In turns 3 and 4 Hettinger and flint made it Three wide so Snyder backed off to avoid wrecking, the cars sped back into turns one and two and Flint spun directly in front of Snyder which almost caused a wreck. A car in front of the Vertech Motorsports #22 was spraying oil all over and making it very hard for Snyder to keep a handle on the car and see. The race was riddled with cautions which caused Snyder to run low on fuel and have fuel pick up problems which kept him stuck in 10th throughout the race. The team is off to a good start for the Rookie of the Year title and looks forward to their first trip to Delaware Speedway for another exciting race.
