Snyder nearly breaks track record at season finale

09/28/2008

Vertech Motorsports traveled to Berlin Raceway for the last race of the season. Very excited and looking forward to the night, problem free. The night started with hot laps, and the setup on the car was just what they were looking for. Pumped and ready for the night, Snyder and the blue 22 car went out for qualifying and put down an extremely fast time of 12.84, just .03 sec off of the track record. Next up was the heat race. Snyder started in the 6th position and the car didn't handle the best leaving him in 6th place through the remainder of the race. Slighty disappointed with the heat race, Snyder and the team were ready for some change in the feature. Starting in the 10th position, and having the fastest time, Snyder had an awesome start and in the first 2 laps went from 10th to 7th and was ready to keep moving up when a yellow flag came out. On the restart, Snyder went from 7th place to 4th place in the matter of the lap, in exciting fashion when Derek took the 07 Ryan Litt and the 26 Jeff Bloom three wide along the back stretch. During the feature, the car became loose and hard to control. Snyder held off the 07 Jeff Banyas and held his position in 6th place until lap 27 when he finally lost it and spun out in turns 3 and 4. Track workers told him he was spilling oil all over, se he decided to pull in. Coming to find out, he was not spilling oil on the track and ended the night in 12th place. Now it's time to regroup and prepare for next year where the team hopes to have a lot better luck. In less than a month Snyder will be leaving for South Africa where he will have 4 races.

Another promising day ends in dissapointment

09/06/2008

The day started out a beautiful day for racing on Saturday, September 6,2008. Vertech Motorsports headed yet again to Dixie Motor Speedway for one of the last races of the season. More than ready to end the night with a bang, we went into the day with heads held high and confidence. Out on the track for hot laps the car was looking good and feeling great. Next was time to qualify, going out with all the car had, Derek Snyder pushed the car and was looking great and got loose coming out of turn 4 and was nervous about his time, yet the second lap came even better and smoother and he qualified with the fastest time of the night with a 12.558. More than ready for the heat race, Starting in the 6th position, outside third row, Snyder had a great start and was headed right to second place when a yellow came out. Snyder was put back to 3rd, and had to race the 26 car hard, he passed him right out of turn 4 on the last lap placing him in the 2nd spot for the heat. The Vertech Motorsport team was more excited and happier than ever after having a frustrating season. Before the feature all the cars went out to see the fans and signed autographs for the night. Coming back and getting ready for the feature, Snyder was nervous, anxious and excited for this feature. Starting in the outside of row 4, Snyder hit the gas and landed in the 6th position right off the start, he raced hard with the 07 Banyas car and Snyder ended up now in the 7th position. Starting to gain on the next three cars in front of him, everything was looking good. Just as the team was getting more pumped and excited, Snyders' car starting smoking and he had to pull the blue 22 car in for the night, ending another night with disappointed and disgust.

Top 10 in feature @ Spartan

07/13/2008

Vertech Motorsports stayed close to home for their only race at the ¼ mile, Spartan Speedway. Car looked good and quick in hot laps, but when qualifying came the car didn’t come out on top, qualifying with a 13.37 lap time. Derek started on the pole of his heat race ready to take a heat win and. Derek charged to the lead and led until the race was shortened with a right rear going flat after three laps. Disappointed and starting 17th in feature, Derek was determined to fight his way to the front. The start was good and he was making progress. Going into lap 8 a lapped car, pushed up into Snyder, causing him to spin out and restart all the way in the back. When the green flag dropped, he sped past the back two cars immediately putting Snyder back to where he was before the spin out. The 22 car was moving good but with a fuel pick up problem hanging around, Derek had to work harder at moving forward. He held his position well and with the last lap of the race, the 20k car and 46 car spun out and Derek ended up with a top 10 finish! The team is still waiting to get the motor back to get our car up and running again. Vertech Motorsports looks forward to Dixie Speedway on August 2nd where Snyder should be back in the Blue #22.

Snyder wins heat at Dixie top 15 in feature

07/04/2008

The Vertech Motorsports team traveled to Dixie Speedway for their first ride with Stickney Motorsports. At the beginning of the day the team struggled to get the car hooked up, fighting a push through the corners. With the combined effort of Stickney and Snyders' teams, they were able to get the car much better. Snyder went out to qualify and had a fast lap of 13.368 which was only good for 17th place in a very tight field of cars. The teams worked hard to get the car fast for the heat race. Snyder started on the pole and was three wide on the first lap, after that Snyder took off and never looked back, taking his first win with AVSS. Snyder started on the inside of the 9th row of the feature and had a lot of work ahead of him. On the second lap Snyder tried to take Kyle Flint on the outside and spun his car after getting pushed up into the marbles. Snyder had to go to the back of the field and was able to work his way back up to 15th by the end. Vertech Motorsports is excited for the next two races with Wayne Stickney Motorsports at Kalamazoo Speedway and Spartan Speedway next weekend.
